Sunday, Sunday ,Sunday! #1

Welcome to our new segment, Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! On Sundays, we wrap up the week in games, movies, music, and media!

Monday- We here at Gamer Kid News were all exited about E3. News was getting out as E3 was just around the corner. Was the Ps3 going to blow us away? Was the "revolution" going to be the next big thing? Or was the 360 going to reign supreme?

Tuesday- The press conferences for Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft were all going on and being studied by the good people at G4 Television. The Revolution was changed to the Wii, Halo 3 was announced, and a bunch of trailers and demos were shown. The PS3 controller was redesigned (thankfully) and news was starting to break out about the next years biggest games.

Wednesday- E3 opened! The LA Convention Center opened it's doors to hundreds upon thousands of screaming people. Too bad it's not open to the public..... :( . The Wii and Ps3 got hands on takes from fans. Every booth glistened. Ahh, the sights. Nintendo did have a great run this year, because of the innovation of the Wii.

Thursday- More games were unveliled, more hands on tries emerged. Nintendo blew everyone away with their innovation of games.

Friday- E3 was wrapped up. Everyone started leaving, and the last games made their appearance.

Saturday- Ahh yes, Saturday. Everyone had a chance to reflect on E3 No new games were revealed today, who would wait until after E3?

Right now, I'm taking a break from games, and giving you a taste of what movies and music that you should definitely check out.

1.Kung Pow :Enter The Fist- This is an old 70s kung-fu flick with new hilarious audio, and new characters added in through amazing technology. A simple thing as a guy coughing in the original, with new audio, makes for a great joke. Check it out.

2. Kung Phooey- An original movie, with loads of funny scenes, that are really funny, not just random funny. A great parody.

3. Van Helsing- The story of all great old horror films added together, shown through the good guy's eyes

4. The Scary Movies- These hilarious parodies (4 in total) will have you laughing for hours!

5. Adam Sandler Movies- Most of his work is great, Little Nicky, Big Daddy, Mr. Deeds, 8 Crazy Nights

5. Stewie Griffin- The Untold Story: This movie is the uncut version of a few upcoming episodes of Family Guy that string together

There are more, but check these out first

Now music

The best music ever!

1.Disturbed- The Sickness - This CD is the best CD you'll ever find!

Linkin Park- Hybrid Theory - One of the best cds ever, LP's best by far

There is more, but I'm leaving room for more posts.
Alert!

E3! E3 is here! Today is the last night of the week long expo. Here's some breaking news from the show floor!

The Wii. Yes, the wii. This console used to be called the Revolution. It's made by Nintendo, and is so intuitive and fun, I might even recommend it over the PS3.

Shown here is the Wii controller, both parts are motion sensitive, imagine FPS'!
The remote part is used for motion controlled things such as moving a gun or slicing with a sword. The other part has an analog stick which is used to control movement. The remote looking one has buttons for commands. For games that simply won't work with this, it plugs into a normal shaped non motion sensitive controller.

The Wii! (Yeah, stupid name.....)

there's even a game called Red Steel, which is an FPS with sword fighting sequences!

The PS3 made a big splash, too.

So sweet.......So beautiful...

The PS3 is going strong, well, for games. It lacks a bit of originality, but the graphics will make up for it until the original titles start appearing. The controller has been revised (It is no longer the one above) to look much more like a Dual-Shock 2. Big games? Unreal 2007! This amazing FPS will leave you stunned. Killzone 2 has the best graphics...like....Ever. Expect new games from Sega, classics like Sonic, and new series like Full Auto.

What about the X-Box 360? Games are going strong. That's all I can say, seeing it's not new anymore, and no breaking news is arising.

The Ps2 is in for a last few games. God of War 2 improves on everything in the already perfect game. MK: Armageddon has every Mortal Kombat character ever, and a huge character creation mode. Both are due out fall, around launch of the PS3.

Zelda:Twilight Princess is being released on both the Wii and the Gamecube ( the wii one has motion controlled features, wait for that one.)

The PSP is expecting a camera and other peripherals out this year!

Well, watch the last of E3 on G4 tonight from 6-9 pm. Cablevision channel 175 in the Tri State Area. Check your local listings. Or go to www.g4tv.com/e3 for more info!
Kingdom Hearts 2 was a great game. I reviewed it below. It took me 25 hours to complete, in total. Levels are skippable (I didn't do Little Mermaid, Winnie the Pooh, or the 2nd part of Lion King, although I am going back. ) I just thought I'd let you know that, so that, If you want to go to every level, go there BEFORE going to "The World That Never Was". Once your there, there's no going back.

Today, we are reviewing a game that is like crack, virtual crack anyway. Counter Strike: Source.

The names have been taken out to protect identity

Counter Strike has always been a key in online gaming. It's fast gameplay and addictive nature have always maken it a hit. With the newest (Not so new, but, the newest.) version of the game, it comes with this, and more.
The graphics are much improved over earlier versions. Lighting is much better, as well as improved character models and maps. The guns are smoother and more realistic, and the textures improved as well. The SOURCE engine is Valve and steams' new engine, so their new games run on this.
Of course you can still make your own maps, character models, and skins. Customization is hard, but worth it. You can run your own dedicated server for free ( but I recommend buying an actual server to run it off of. )
The gameplay? Depends. Online games are hard to rate, especially when you throw in customization. Some servers are fun, other's aren't. The ones you do find fun you can add to your favorites. Deathmatches are special kinds of rounds that when you die, you instantly come back, right into the action, with free guns of your choice. Other rounds pit you against another team (as do deathmatches) but when you die, your out until the next round. When you spawn, your away from the other team.
I recommend playing off of standard maps, not custom ones, at first. You have to download custom maps. Standard maps are easy to get a hold of, and fun to play. DE:Dust 2, DE: Pirensi are good ones. Steer clear of DE: Compound
So, buy this, get addicted, have your legal drug.

Pros- Improved graphics, good customization
Cons- Some servers aren't fun, hard to customize

Final Score- 8/10

Great graphics/models!

Shoot away boys!

Back to the normal schedule now people, everyday!

Woot!

First is a review of a game.....
This game being Kingdom Hearts 2

Shown here is Sora, sporting a Drive Change, which is a key point of the game.

Kingdom Hearts 2 starts...Well.....It starts with you having no clue what's going on. For the first hours of the game, you play Roxas, NOT SORA (Although, his relation to Sora is announced later.) Roxas is having Sora's dreams.... Things keep attacking him, he has a keyblade, scenes of men in robes talking come on. Your lost. and you will be. For a pretty long time.
Then you switch to Sora. You have good ol' Donald and Goofy. You know Sora's story, so you'll be getting it for a while until later where they explain relations, and a mysterious organization. You travel to Disney worlds, battle, have fun.

Now, the gameplay is a bit easy, and button-mashy. Press X for attack, which instantly becomes combos. Triangle acts as a trigger special effect when available. Say you just hit a combo on a boss and your falling from air. A triangle command will appear and you can slash down. The effects are always different, depending on who your fighting.

Summons? Check. Party Changes? Check. The whole game is beautifully done. The story will hook you. The game is great looking with amazing graphics.

The drive gauge is an awesome change as well. When full, by hitting enemies or being hit, you can change clothes into another from. Valor forms with Goofy and you wield two keyblades and have longer combos. Mystic forms with Donald and turns your keyblade into a gun. You can attack long range with instant hits. Master form fuses with both. You get two keyblades, enhanced attack and longer combos. Final form is like an all out blast. (shown above, silver costume. ) And the Nega form happens at random, and you get turned into a heartless with combos that go on forever and very strong attack. You have these until the time runs out on your gauge. You start with valor, you have to unlock the rest.

The story is great, but prepared to be lost. It all wraps up in the end. I won't spoil the story at all. Not even basic plot. I will tell you their are a new enemy, nobodies, who have a special relation to heartless.

Pros- Great Story, great graphics, cool gameplay, good experience all around
Cons- Boss battles sometimes way too hard, rest of the game a bit too easy. World over too fast

Final Score- 9.5/10

Here are some pics and captions
The mysterious Organization XIII
Battle Time!
The best world in the game, over way too fast
I outlined it for you, the line leading from the green part says "This is the trigger effect"

Much apologies my friends, but I've been gone for 2 months! I'm not going into details, but I was tied up. No need to bore you. Instead, I'll give you the finals! (Thought I forgot, eh?)

Games

PSP- What an amazing system. It's beautiful, and can do everything. But what about the games? There, as everyone says, a lot of ports from PS2. There are also a lot of great experiences on the PSP . Try EXIT , its fun for short times, and only available on the PSP. The PSP can handle many things..... But many PS2 games are just not possible (take Kingdom Hearts 2, for example......) for the sheer number of cutscenes, levels, whatever.

DS- Innovative.Fun. Stylish. Cool. It has some ports, but their worth it, like Mario Kart DS or Super Mario DS (Mario pwns u Noobs!) It is original, thanks to the touch screen, allowing for games only available on the DS. Woot!

Winner- DS

The End

Yes, its all over! And who won......?????????

PSP- But not by a landslide. Sure, the PSP is great, but the DS is more original, and more fun.......

Let's stack it up!

PSP-----

Pros- Great graphics, amazing capabilities, multimedia machine
Cons- Lack of originality, gets boring

DS---------

Pros- Fun, original, and innovative
Cons- Ugly, bad graphics

The Winner!
